Why doesn’t he wear Nike at the Masters?

Forget the will he doesn’t want, this was the biggest Tiger Woods-related shock before the Masters

Tiger Woods has questioned whether or not he will take part in this year’s Masters, which starts on Thursday.

Woods – who hasn’t played competitively since a missed cut at the US Open in 2020 – flew to Augusta last week for a few practice sessions and returned to Georgia on Sunday to play more holes. But it was the footage of the 15-time major champion warming up on the lineup that caught the most attention.

Yes. It’s Tiger in FootJoy shoes.

The same Tiger who’s been wearing Nike shoes since his “Hello, world” moment when he turned pro in 1996.

So why was he punching in a pair of FootJoys? We reached out to the brand, but our gear expert Hannah Holden suggests it will be because of her injury and the stability provided by the Premiere series.

My old ESPN friend Michael Collins tweeted that he asked Nike what was going on. They replied, “Like golf fans everywhere, we are delighted to see Tiger back on the course. He’s an incredible athlete, and it’s phenomenal to see him back in the game at this level. His story continues to transcend sport and inspire us all. As he continues his comeback, we will work with him to meet his new needs.

Hell has no fury like a despised OEM.

We’ll let you know as soon as we do, but in the meantime, we can’t think of better marketing for a pair of golf shoes…
