The Oregon women’s basketball team is used to receiving new shoes in the mail.
The team has several colorful shoes and several styles from each of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Kobe Bryant.
This next shoe hits a little closer to home.
Former college basketball and Oregon superstar Sabrina Ionescuwho signed a contract with Nike after his epic four-year career in Oregon, gifted the current Oregon team with a custom pair of Nike Air Zooms that Ionescu would wear in his freshman year in the WNBA.
“I was supposed to wear these shoes, Nike actually made these shoes for me to wear in my first pro season representing the Ducks,” Ionescu said. “Obviously I couldn’t wear them, but I wanted to make sure you all had the shoes and could wear them if you wanted to. If you’re not doing very well, but just wanted to pay tribute as a team…”

Ionescu was unable to wear these shoes in his first WNBA season after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in only his third game. The GOAT provided an update on his rehab in early October:

The 2020-21 Ducks are preparing for the start of the season on Nov. 25. No non-conference or conference schedules have been released at the time of this article’s publication.
