Adidas Brings Back Kobe Bryant’s Retro Shoes

The late great Kobe Bryant was always ahead of his time. Whether it was his training methods, his financial investments, or the shoes he wore, Bryant was several steps ahead of everyone else.

After initially being met with skepticism when released, fans have come to love Bryant’s signature line of sneakers with Adidas. Formerly known as The Kobe, Adidas has since rebranded the futuristic Hoop shoe as The Crazy 1.

Although Adidas has released the model periodically over the years, it’s been a while since fans have been able to get hold of the futuristic hoop shoes. More than two decades after their initial release, fans are more fond of Bryant’s Adidas line than ever.

This all comes at a time when fans of the Los Angeles Lakers legend are still grieving over his untimely passing. To add insult to injury, hoopers and sneakerheads alike have struggled to get Bryant’s Nike shoes for the past year and a half.

Adidas Crazy 1 ‘Sunshine.’

It looks like loyal Bryant fans might have a chance to pick up the Adidas Crazy 1 in two colorways. On Adidas website in Japantwo colorways are expected to launch soon.

The all-white “Stormtrooper” colorway is set to release on August 20. Meanwhile, the yellow “Sunshine” colorway is listed as “coming soon”. Fans can purchase the retro shoes for 19,000 yen or US$140.

Since February, multiple news outlets have been reporting that Adidas is bringing the Crazy 1 back in both colorways, and that appears to be the case. Last month, the “Stormtrooper” was made available through a raffle at the END store.

The Crazy 1 still does not appear on the Adidas US website. But it seems only a matter of time before the coveted kicks get a North American release.

The summer of 2000 feels like an eternity. Adidas and Bryant have picked the perfect time to launch the superstar’s signature new sneakers. The Lakers made a miraculous comeback in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, which propelled the team to its first of three straight titles.

There is no way to fill the void left by Bryant. But hopefully fans will get a chance to buy some nostalgia in the near future. We’ll keep you posted on the release of the Adidas Crazy 1 as we learn more. Stay locked into for the latest news, updates, and interviews.
